The 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise showed that over 79% of research activity in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures is ranked in the three highest international categories and 50% is classified as 'quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour' and 'quality that is internationally excellent in terms of originality, significance and rigour'.
