Undergraduate Board of Studies

The University continually revises and updates its courses, degree programmes and awards to maintain the currency of its teaching and the learning experience. The Board of Studies is responsible for curriculum discussion and approval within a School.

Purpose

The main purposes of Boards of Studies are:

  • to consider proposals for new courses, programmes and awards;
  • to consider changes to existing courses, programmes and awards;
  • to consider the closure of existing courses, programmes or awards; and
  • to keep teaching, learning and assessment methodologies under review.

Membership

  • All academic staff appointed to teach courses leading to the award of a degree offered by the School.
  • Student representatives.
  • External representatives from Boards of Studies in other Schools.
  • Representatives from The Office of Lifelong Learning and CHSS Summer School.
  • Library representative.

All academic staff in the School are invited to attend Board of Studies, but one named member from each subject area in the School must attend in order to achieve quorum (core members).

The LLC UG Board of Studies site provides details of:

  • Members/subject area representatives
  • Dates of meetings and deadlines for submission of papers
  • Guidance
  • Minutes of previous meetings
