How to request ethical approval for a student group project

Guidance on research ethics for students completing projects as part of a group

If you are a student completing a group research project with other students in LLC, then each member of the group is required to submit an ethics application and secure a favourable opinion before beginning the research. To reduce the burden on the Research Ethics Committee (REC), one member of the group should submit an ethics application for review and once a favourable opinion has been secured, all members of the group should submit an identical application. All members of the group should receive a favourable opinion before beginning the research. Please preface the title with “GROUP PROJECT” and include a list of all group members in the project description.

In cases where students from different schools are working on a group project, each member of the group is required to secure a favourable opinion for the project from their own school REC. All members of the group should receive a favourable opinion before beginning the research. Please preface the title with “GROUP PROJECT” and include a list of all group members and their schools in the project description.
