All staff in LLC must complete the following mandatory training on Information Security and Data Protection (including UK GDPR).
- Information Security Essentials: Training | Information Security.
- Data Protection Essentials: Training and events | The University of Edinburgh.
All staff and students in LLC who conduct research must complete the following mandatory training on research ethics and GDPR.

- Data Protection for Research (self-enrol via Learn). Instructions for self-enrolling on Learn-based training modules can be found here. (Please ignore any messages about completing Data Protection Training first as this is no longer available to students. Please see information Security Essentials as an alternative.)
For staff, this will be in addition to the courses on Information Security and Data Protection.
For students, before completing the Data Protection for Research course, it may be helpful to complete:

Self-Enrol on Learn to Access Training Courses (EASE log-in required)
The Institute for Academic Development (IAD) offers training on a wide range of research-related skills, including on research ethics and data management. Of particular use to postgraduate research students is the PGR Research Integrity and Ethics Workshop. Details of this and other relevant workshops can be found on the Institute for Academic Development website.

Becoming an ethical researcher: ‘This free course…explores the ethics of planning, carrying out and reporting research which involves human participants.
