Edinburgh Screen Conversations: Carol Morley

About the seminar 

One of contemporary cinema's most distinctive filmmakers, Carol Morley will discuss her beginnings in short films, her unflinching, formally inventive documentaries The Alcohol Years (2005) and Dreams of A Life (2011) as well as her daringly poetic fiction films Edge (2010), The Falling (2014) and Out of Blue (2018). The conversation will also take in her poignant, darkly funny autobiographical novel 7 Miles Out (2015), her influences and working with regular collaborators such as actor Maxine Peake and producer Cairo Cannon.

The event is hosted by Film Studies at the University of Edinburgh and is part of the Edinburgh Screen Conversations series.

We offer one year taught Masters degrees in either Film Studies or in Film, Exhibition and Curation. The MSc in Film Studies is designed for students particularly interested in theory, film-philosophy and art house cinema, while the MSc in Film, Exhibition and Curation combines critical and project based approaches to screening film and developing audiences.
