The Edge of Words

Structure of events

This page gives an idea of the schedule for the events in the first year.

Letters400x164

The structure of events in the first year (and we expect in subsequent years) is as follows

  • a Study Day in October (open only to colleagues and students in the organising departments), to set up debate on the core issues
  • a Seminar Series, consisting of between six and eight seminars per year, some given by colleagues and postgraduates in Edinburgh and some given by invited speakers from elsewhere
  • and an End of Year Conference, whose theme and format will be decided by a bidding process. A call will be issued for proposals from colleagues within DELC and CSS (including Film Studies and Translation Studies). Each proposal should describe the proposed theme of the conference, how it will be structured, the amount and purpose of funds required from the Edge of Words budget, and what funds will be sought from other sources. The call for bids will be issued during semester 1.
