4th February, 6pm-7pm, Project room, 50 George Square
Edinburgh University Jewish Society is delighted to host a Q&A with German poet and essayist, and author of notable polemic ‘Desintegriert Euch!’ [De-Integrate Yourselves], Dr Max Czollek. In his book, Max challenges the notions of “good Jews” and “good migrants” and problematizes policy narratives and public discourse which focus on integration of minority communities.
Jewish Society President, Ari, will be leading a Q&A session with Max, focusing on the evolution of integration and multiculturalism narratives, and the status of minority communities in the modern nation-state where shared values are considered a cornerstone of society but religious and political freedoms must also be preserved.
