Shane McGlinchey
Shane, a Masters student, is working on a project on memory studies and foreign policy in Russia.
The working title of Shane's thesis is 'Exporting the Victory: The Interactions of Russian National Memory and Cosmopolitan Memory'.
Shane's research touches on both politics and sociology in Russia. More specifically it focuses on the intersection of memory studies and foreign policy in contemporary Russia, and the ways in which Russian policy, both at home and abroad is shaped by the Russian national memory. He pays special attention to the ways in which Russian national memory is challenged by the emergence of post-national, cosmopolitan memory; and the ways in which Russia in turn seeks to externalise its own national memory upon a wider audience.
