A third-year PhD student, Mikhail holds an MSc (Distinction) in Translation Studies from The University of Edinburgh.

Mikhail’s research focuses on construction of memory of the Soviet past in contemporary Russian writer Tatiana Tolstaya’s nonfiction output across media.

As a holder of the prestigious Principal’s Career Development Scholarship, Mikhail is engaged at the Princess Dashkova Russian Centre as Public Engagement Coordinator.

Mikhail’s role is to ensure the Dashkova Centre develops a wider community outreach via the following focus areas:

  • Identify target groups and develop wider community outreach via a portfolio of high-profile events.
  • Develop additional marketing channels to ensure better promotion and wider coverage of the Centre's research and cultural activities.
  • Develop collaboration with valuable high-profile partners in the cultural sector.
  • Promote knowledge exchange activities and reinforce inter-departmental and interdisciplinary ties of the Centre.

Mikhail’s research interests include discourse analysis, memory studies, sociolinguistics, Soviet history, Soviet and post-Soviet identity, nonfiction, translation studies, literary translation, interpreting studies.
