Kathleen Jamie in conversation with Tom Mole

Join us for a conversation about the physical forms Kathleen Jamie's multi-award-winning writing has taken.

Kathleen Jamie is one of the most important and original writers of poetry and prose working in Scotland today. Her work has won an Eric Gregory Award, a Forward Poetry Prize, and a Costa Poetry Award, among many other distinctions.

She is a versatile writer, who turns her hand to poetry and prose, and who turns her eyes to the ocean around a Scottish island, the inside of a museum, or the skyline of a city. But whatever her subject or her chosen form, Kathleen Jamie writes with a scrupulous attention to detail, a rich feeling for language, and an understated sophistication.

Her work has appeared in different venues, not only in volumes of poetry, but also in collaborations with artists, and in site-specific installations. In conversation with Tom Mole, Director of the Centre for the History of the Book, Kathleen Jamie will reflect on the ways in which poems make their way in the world.

If you would like to join us for this Centre for the History of the Book Annual Public Lecture, followed by a drinks reception, please register on Eventbrite.

About the Centre for the History of the Book

Established in 1995, the Centre for the History of the Book (CHB) promotes research into the production, circulation and reception of published material, from manuscripts to electronic texts.

Led by Dr Tom Mole, it is based in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures (LLC) at the University of Edinburgh, where Tom is also a Reader in English Literature.

The CHB Annual Public Lecture is one of a range of activities organised by the Centre to bring together staff and students interested in the history of the book as a material object, in all its forms.

The Centre's one-year taught masters programme, Book History and Material Culture, brings together theory and practice in new and innovative ways and is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
