The Sharia and Islamic Law Online Course

A ground-breaking free online course offering a scholarly introduction to the global diversity of the Sharia and Islamic Law.

Launched inthe summer of 2019, this free online course offers students across the world the opportunity to work with renowned academics from the University of Edinburgh and other leading universities to explore scholarly perspectives on the Sharia and Islamic law. The five-week course discusses some of the diverse roles that the Sharia and Islamic law have played in Muslim life, both historically and today, encouraging students to think critically about the nature of religious law and its many manifestations.

The course has so far atytractyed over 11,000 students from 150 countries and will be running for the third time in Spring 2021.
