The 2018 ESRIC Interdisciplinary Consortium Meeting at the IGMM

The annual Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium (ESRIC) Symposium Meeting promotes interdisciplinary research in advanced and super-resolution optical imaging and its application to biomedical science: December 2017

ESRIC Interdisciplinary Consortium

The annual Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium (ESRIC) Symposium Meeting promotes interdisciplinary research in advanced and super-resolution optical imaging and its application to biomedical science. The third symposium meeting will be hosted by the IGMM on Tuesday, 23 January 2018 (10am-5pm).

ESRIC was established in 2013 ESRIC as a partnership between the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering (IB3), Heriot-Watt University and the MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM), The University of Edinburgh. This integrative collaboration combines all the disciplines and technical skills required to drive the development and application of novel super-resolution techniques and data analysis for the study of biological processes. ESRIC is a consortium formed on a foundation of highly experienced researchers across the physical sciences with expertise in biophysics, bio-imaging, genetics, mathematical modelling and teaching.

ESRIC provides an openly accessible managed imaging facility, with state of the art platforms for imaging below the diffraction limit of light, and that can be used to address fundamental questions of normal cell function and its dysfunction in human disease. The facility is open to researchers from any field anywhere in the world with equal priority to all.

The annual symposium meetings began in 2015 and aim to facilitate further collaboration and to encourage scientists to engage with the local imaging community. This one-day event showcases both local and international research in the field, stimulating discussion and inspiration on the tools, applications and analysis of advanced imaging methodologies.

A meeting handbook will provide information about research areas, tools and reagents, imaging platforms and technologies.

The plenary speaker is Christophe Zimmer from the Institut Pasteur, Paris, where he leads the Imaging and Modelling Unit, developing tools to study chromosome architecture.

Registration is free but spaces are limited so secure your place quickly to avoid missing out: http://www.cgem.ed.ac.uk/imaging-conf/. Registrations after the 18th January 2018 will not appear in the Meeting Handbook.
