Kat Arney

On Thursday 31st March IGMM hosted Dr Kat Arney, science writer and broadcaster. Dr Arney has just released a book, Herding Hemingway’s Cats, initially inspired by the work of Professor Bob Hill at the MRC Human Genetics Unit. Dr Arney discussed her desire to explain to the public how genes work. Her book arose from interviews of many researchers, several at the University of Edinburgh including Professors Wendy Bickmore, Bob Hill and Adrian Bird. She gave a  fascinating presentation on the complexity of gene regulation with excellent tips on how to communicate science to the public.
