Visit of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal

Princess Anne visits the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre: October 2013

In her capacity as Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, Princess Anne took more than three hours out of her busy schedule to learn about the work of the Edinburgh Cancer Research UK Centre (ECRC), at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM).

On arrival, the Chancellor was welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh and Professor Sir Timothy O’Shea, Principal and Vice-Chancellor and Lady O’Shea.

Introductions to Professor Nick Hastie (IGMM Director) and Professor David Cameron (ECRC Clinical Director) followed.

Taking a tour of the laboratories, the Princess Royal heard from scientists, clinicians and students about the translational work going on to understand more about cancer.
