Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS) Central Transgenic Core (CTC)

The Bioresearch & Veterinary Services (BVS) Central Transgenic Core (CTC) offers a comprehensive, reliable & high-quality transgenic service to researchers at the University of Edinburgh.

IGMM Transgenics & embryonic stem cell technologies

CTC specializes in the production of transgenic rodents through microinjection of DNA, RNA or Embryonic Stem (ES) cells. The evolution of CRISPR/CAS9 technology has revolutionized the field of transgenesis and, in collaboration with the researchers at the University, we have used this technology with great success to produce knock-out and knock-in rodent mice.

Other services offered by CTC include Cryopreservation of sperm and embryos and Rederivation of rodent lines via embryo transfer, IVF or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).
