Bespoke workshops, courses or resources

We are able to work with Schools to develop and organise tailored, bespoke workshops, courses or resources.

Currently, our bespoke work is particularly for staff and postgraduates.

Scope and examples

As well as our general courses and resources, we can provide a limited range of bespoke provision for Schools.

Our staffing levels mean that bespoke provision must be agreed well in advance between Schools and us. Bespoke provision is usually dependant on local (School) or external tutors. Schools are expected to cover the cost of external tutors as well as any catering, printing, materials or external venues (if used).

Most examples of our bespoke provision take place at PhD level. Other examples include some taught masters programmes and supervisor/Principal Investigator briefing events.

IAD devolved funding and guidance

The Institute for Academic Development (IAD) devolves funds to Schools annually to be used to support the development activities of their Postgraduate students and researchers, (PGT, PGR) and research staff. Please contact louise.mckay@ed.ac.uk for information and guidance on the use of these funds (only available to University of Edinburgh staff)
