Key Contacts at the University of Edinburgh
There are many colleagues in professional services and academic roles across the University who have responsibility for (or a special interest in) activities related to public engagement with research.
Beltane Breakfasts, Twilights, Lunches and Brunches
Beltane Breakfasts, Twilights, Lunches and Brunches are informal events where members of the Beltane community share their experiences of aspects of public engagement around a theme. Researchers and support staff from universities in Edinburgh, along with people from organisations that wish to work with universities, have a chance to share information and ideas over bacon rolls, coffee and cake.
Beltane Public Engagement Fellowships
Beltane Fellowships offer University research staff funding, mentoring and a community of practice through which to develop their public engagement practice. Fellowships also offer researchers recognition, but also an expectation that they will champion public engagement within the University.
Since 2010, there have been a total of 34 Beltane Public Engagement Fellows and two Honorary Fellows. These Fellows were recruited from a wide range of disciplines and seniority levels.
The key contact for the Beltane Fellowship scheme is Heather Rea, Public Engagement Coordinator for the University.

Edinburgh Public Engagement Forum
The Edinburgh Public Engagement Forum is a group that meets three times a year, and also maintains a discussion/mailing list; it is aimed at professional and support staff and has around 100 members. Anyone at the University who supports public engagement with research is invited to join the Forum.
Researchers looking to join a public engagement community of practice may find Beltane Breakfasts, Twilights, Lunches and Brunches of interest. (See link above)
Edinburgh Community Engagement Forum
All staff and students at the University with an interest in engagement with local organisations and individuals are invited to join the Edinburgh Community Engagement Forum.
