Information on training that you may find helpful.

Preparing to enter

If you are interested in taking part in the competition and want to find out more information, or are interested in training that is available, we are running the following:

19th February 2020 (9.30am - 12.30pm) -  ‘Three Minute Thesis - Competition Preparation’

You can practice delivering your presentation in front of a small audience and receive constructive feedback from peers prior to the school/college heats in the 'Just Present' - Three Minute Thesis Competition Peer Practice Sessions:

25th February 2020 (2.00pm - 4.00pm) - Three Minute Thesis Peer Practice Session 

3rd March 2020 (10.00am - 12noon) - Three Minute Thesis Peer Practice Session 

We also run a session on Effective Slide Design for Three Minute Thesis:

2nd March 2020 (1.30pm - 4.30pm) - Effective Slide Design for Three Minute Thesis

You can practise delivering your presentation in a large auditorium (the venue for the final):

31st March 2020 (9.30am - 11.00am) - Three Minute Thesis Practice Session

Training for College heat winners

The winners from the College heats will take part in training on Engaging Communication, a 1:1 practice and feedback session and a session on Designing a 3 Minute Thesis Slide, specifically developed for this competition.

Engaging Communications Workshop (for College heat winners only)

Dates: 9th and 10th June 2020

Content: This online workshop will cover:

  • how to engage audiences
  • best practice in research communication
  • effective story telling
  • the building blocks of communication
  • making complex subjects simple
  • speech and voice coaching

You will also be offered a 1:1 session with the facilitator to practice and get feedback on your 3 minute “pitch”.
