Peer observation of teaching

Peer observation is confidential to the two individuals involved.

It has two main purposes: to encourage reflection and provide an opportunity for discussion, and to allow teachers to gain ideas through watching colleagues.

All new staff (with some exceptions for very experienced staff) appointed to a lecturing role with contracts of 12 months duration or longer take part in the University’s Professional Development & Review scheme.

Part of the scheme includes mentoring.
