An online anthropology journal that will feature work authored by undergraduate students Team Members : John Harries, Lauren Wilks, Laura Major, Hal Morrissey Gillman Abstract The proposed year-long project aims to establish an online anthropology journal that will feature work authored by undergraduate students at the University of Edinburgh. Not only will this journal feature student work, but it will also be student lead, in that all processes involved in the creation of this journal – from the solicitation of original work, to the reviewing of this work, through to the design and eventual dissemination of the journal – will be undertaken by an “editorial board” composed of undergraduate students, with input and support from teaching and information services staff at the School of Social and Political Science. This project will, it is anticipated, both an answer a felt need amongst the undergraduate students in the School of Social and Political Science to see their ethnographic researches reach a public audience and, in so doing, enable them to acquire transferable skills relating to project management, digital design and publishing and the work of editing and producing online media forms and content. In so doing we will enhance the profile of the work of our undergraduate student as well as their employability. We will also, more general, enhance the quality of the learning experience of undergraduates in the School of Social and Political Science and, by extension, promote the School as a destination of choice for prospective students.
