Abstract

In our recent PTAS-funded study ‘Supporting Teacher Reflection through Visualisation of Classroom Practices Data’ we developed a new approach to supporting STEMM lecturers to engage in reflection about their teaching practices which combined the provision of detailed data about teaching practices, together with the opportunity to engage in a supportive discussion. We found that lecturers valued seeing their data in graphical form, that it helped them to reflect on their teaching and some indicated that it would encourage them to change their teaching approach.

The aim of this project is to develop a practical implementation of this approach so that it can be integrated into continuing professional development provision at the University of Edinburgh, such as the Edinburgh Teaching Award Scheme (EdTA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP).
