Information about the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework for Learning and Teaching at the University of Edinburgh.
The IAD has worked with key stakeholders across the University to develop a coherent overarching framework for CPD for learning and teaching, mapped against the UK Professional Standards Framework.
This work provides colleagues involved in teaching, assessment and supporting learning with coherent and flexible pathways for continuing development. We have accreditation for this overarching framework from the Higher Education Academy which incorporates existing accredited programmes such as the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice but also a range of alternative pathways for development.
The framework includes the Edinburgh Teaching Award, which is designed to give you rich opportunities to reflect on teaching and assessment practices in ways that are meaningful and relevant for your particular role and career stage.
This might include, for example:
Through this framework you can gain different levels of Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Becoming a Fellow of the HEA provides national recognition of your commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education.
Further details of the framework can be found in the following paper presented to the University Learning and Teaching Committee (March 2014):
