Festival of Creative Learning

The Festival of Creative Learning is a year-long series of events focusing on creative learning and innovation at the University of Edinburgh, culminating in a week-long curated Festival in February. Both staff and students are invited to apply to run events with the Festival.

  • You can apply for up to £500 to support an event during the Festival week in February. The deadline will for applications will be in mid-October.

IAD Action Fund

This scheme is open to University of Edinburgh staff and students. You can apply for funding to develop and support your academic networks and communities and/or test ideas for creative learning activities. We will fund projects which support the professional and personal development of groups of students, researchers and academics at every stage of their career.  People can apply to run projects aimed at their own peer group or run collaborative events and projects to involve people at different points in their career.

There are two levels of funding available.

  • IAD Action Fund Small Grants – up to a maximum of £500 – can apply at any point during the academic year
  • IAD Action Fund Regular Grants – up to a maximum of £3000 – applications accepted once per year, deadline in mid-October.

Principal's Teaching Award Scheme

The Principal’s Teaching Award Scheme (PTAS) provides funding to support learning and teaching enhancement. It is an annual scheme which aims to encourage and support activities that will make a significant contribution to the enhancement of learning and teaching at the University of Edinburgh, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. All University of Edinburgh staff with learning, teaching or student support roles are welcome to apply.

There are two levels of funding available.

  • Small Projects Grant Scheme – up to a maximum of £1,500
  • Regular Grant Scheme – up to a maximum of £15,000

There are usually two calls in each academic year - one in mid-late Oct, and one in mid-late March.
