Role in IAD

I am a member of the IAD’s Learning and Teaching team and have a remit across the University to support the use of digital technology for teaching, learning and assessment.  I support colleagues in their use of blended and online learning by delivering workshops, contributing to events and by providing consultancy. I contribute to the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice, I mentor on the Edinburgh Teaching Award and convene the Online Learning Network, a community of practice for colleagues who teach online or support online students.

Professional background

I have worked in the tertiary education sector for almost 20 years, based in a number of Universities and FE Colleges. I spent over 10 years working for Jisc, where I got the opportunity to contribute to a  variety of projects and initiatives including the development of a series of online courses and virtual workshops, and the development of a digital practitioner series of Open Badges.

I have had the opportunity to be a member of a number of project boards and committees and I currently represent the University of Edinburgh on the Scottish Higher Education Developers Network (SHED).

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Member of the British Computer Society, and a Member of the British Psychological Society.
