Our URL Naming Policy provides a consistent approach to the structuring and wording of URLs (web addresses). Practical guidance is available from the Website Support wiki.

Policy

The University URL Naming Policy, published in October 2012, replaces the previous URL Policy Proposal that was accepted by the University’s Knowledge Strategy Committee in August 2007.

The URL shortener widget allows you to make a trackable tiny url in the form edin.ac. to use in social media and other communications. It uses the bit.ly service to generate the urls and statistics.
