Double Diamond model
Our approach can be explained using the 'Double Diamond' approach, which lays out the phases of design.
The Design Council’s Double Diamond model is a visual diagram that some poeple find useful to show the design stages. It shows the importance of taking time to understand the situation of use and any problems before designing solutions.
Each diamond shape illustrates the process of creating or exploring many possible ideas before refining these to the best idea.
The first diamond does this to confirm the problem, and the second to design the solution.
The Design Process: What is the Double Diamond? - Design Council
How it relates to our design phases
- The first phase of our design process relates to the first half of Diamond 1.
- Phase 2 relates to the middle intersection of the two diamonds.
- Phase 3 relates to the second half of Diamond 2.
