Scottish Longitudinal Study (SLS)
The Scottish Longitudinal Study (SLS) is a large-scale linkage study created using data from administrative and statistical sources. These include: census data from 1991 onwards; vital events data (births, deaths, marriages); NHS Central Register data (gives information on migration into or out of Scotland); and education data (including Schools Census and SQA data).
The data are available to academics and support is provided free of charge by a team of researchers. The site also includes links to recent research projects, training opportunities and events.
Because of the sensitive nature of the data held in the SLS, raw microdata files are not provided to users. Instead, two options for accessing SLS data are available: 'remote access' and 'safe setting'.
