Submit a Journal Proposal
Interested in hosting your journal with the Library? We would be happy to discuss how we could help you set up a new journal or migrate an existing title.
Before you start
The information below can help you decide if this service is right for your title. Please contact the Scholarly Communications team for further information.
Is this the right service for your journal?
The service supports the publication of academic and student-led Open Access journals. It uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) and it is provided free of charge to all members of the University of Edinburgh. While we provide hosting and ongoing support, Editorial teams have complete editorial control and are responsible for all aspects of the publication process. Please read the page below for more details on what you can expect from the free journal hosting service:
Process for Using the Service
Whether you would like to launch a brand new journal or migrate an existing title, the below instructions inform you of the process for getting your journal hosted.
1. Download, Complete and Submit A Journal Proposal Form
Please fill out the Journal Proposal Form. The purpose of this form is to determine your goals and needs so we can better support you. Once completed, please sent to Rebecca Wojturska on the Scholarly Communications team (edinburgh.diamond@ed.ac.uk).
2. Review & Approval
The Library will review your proposal. Please note that Edinburgh Diamond supports journals in all disciplines and subject areas, providing they are created by staff or students at the University of Edinburgh. However, we will not host content that discriminates against characteristics protected by law.
3. Meeting
Once approved, we will arrange a meeting with you to further explain the process, determine your needs, and provide a timeframe for the launch.
4. Finalise Your Journal Information and Policies
We will then send you a journal set-up form, so we can brand your journal site the way you want it.
5. Test Site
We will put your book and information onto a test environment and invite you to check everything is in order.
6. Live Site & Launch
Once you've approved the journal, we will publish it on the live site, ready for the launch!
