Library help

If you need to contact us for help with any Library service please get in touch with the IS Helpdesk. There is also a copyright service for related enquiries and an online form if you would like to make a comment, complaint or suggestion.

IS Helpdesk 

Help with all aspects of using the Library is available from the IS Helpdesk and on our webpages. If you can’t find what you are looking for, and you are unable to visit us in person, this is how to get in touch:

Library Chat

Chat with us in real-time, or send us your question and we’ll reply as soon as we can. Just click on the Library Chat widget and wait to be connected. This service is available 7 days a week, during staffed hours. 

You can also get in touch by telephone or email.

Out of hours help

Please note that outside of staffed hours you can use our Ask a Librarian chat widget to get a faster response. Your online chat enquiry will be handled by a Librarian from a different University through a partnership with OCLC.

The Ask a Librarian service is available Monday-Friday 8pm-9am and weekends 5pm-12noon during semester time.

Information about you: how we use it and with whom we share it

The information you provide will be used by the University to process and respond to your enquiry.

The University uses two external companies, OCLC and Springshare, to host our chat services on the University’s behalf.

We are using information about you because we have a legitimate interest in processing your enquiry as effectively as possible.

We will hold the personal data you provided us for two years.

British Sign Language support

A video relay service is available, enabling British Sign Language users to contact public bodies and vice-versa.

This service operates from 8am to 12 midnight, 7 days a week.
