Collections for Italian studies at the University of Edinburgh.
Most books and journals for Italian Studies are stored in the Main Library, George Square. Some older books are located in the Library Research Annexe from where items can be requested. All the materials are listed in the online catalogue.
Collection locations during the redevelopment of the Main Library
Due to the Main Library Redevelopment Project, books that are classified in the Library of Congress scheme (e.g. PQ4809.A45 Cal.) are located on the 4th floor (shelfmark P-Z) and 2nd floor (shelfmark A-N, from 6 September 2010 onwards).
The P-Z sequence will be moved to their final location on the 3rd floor once this floor is redeveloped in summer 2011.
Older books that are classified in the Dewey decimal scheme (e.g. .85304 Con.) are temporarily on the 4th floor but from January 2011 onwards will be relocated to the Library Research Annexe.
The High Use Books (HUB) collection, located on the ground floor of the Main Library, consists of HUB Reserve (3 hour loan) and HUB Short Loan (7 day loan) books as well as offprints and videos. Undergraduate course books on Reserve for Italian studies are located in this collection.
