George Moss - Pibroch
George Moss (1903-1990) was an important figure in Scottish Highland piping who never received the recognition due to him during his lifetime.
He was a very competent piper who competed successfully for a time but who opted out of competition because of changes in piping style fostered by a powerful piping establishment - changes with which he openly disagreed. First published in cassette format in 1982 this reissue in CD format presents piping, singing and discussions that provide invaluable evidence of an earlier style of piping which only today is being reassessed by pipers and researchers.
The original booklet (pdf below) gives a transcript of the discussions as well as musical notations of all the examples played and sung.
