Volunteers and Interns
Volunteers and Interns are an important part of the CRC and contribute a great deal towards our overall success.
We host a variety of volunteer roles working on a range of projects and tasks and we welcome enquiries from anyone interested in volunteering with us.
We are also happy to host placements and interns from academic courses in any relevant discipline.
A few areas we regularly have interns and volunteers working in include:
- Rare Books
We hold Volunteer Open Mornings twice a year (at the beginning of Semesters 1 and 2) where we will advertise the roles currently available and invite you to apply. All available roles will also be sent out to everyone on our mailing list.
If you'd like to be added to our mailing list and kept up to date with our volunteer opportunities, please fill in our Volunteer Enquiry Form.
Semester 2 2020/21 - Volunteering Opportunities Available
For this semester, we have roles available in:
- Digital Imaging Unit
The deadline to apply for Semester 2 opportunities is Monday 25th January, 12 noon. Both placements will begin the week beginning the 8th February. Find full details of the placements available for Semester 2, and how to apply, here:
Please note, you're welcome to apply for more than one opportunity if you wish. Please send your statements for all positions you wish to apply for in the same document and indicate, if relevant, your order of preference.
We're also holding an online Volunteers Open Morning on Wednesday 20th January at 10am. If you'd like to view the recording, please email LAUCVolunteering@ed.ac.uk.
What our volunteers and interns say about their CRC experience
During the 10 weeks I have been working on a project to conserve and re-house items from a collection of letters, legal documents and title deeds relating to the Royal Edinburgh Infirmary. I have had an amazing time here at the University and have learnt so much! I really feel like a part of the team.
Taking on volunteers and interns is a chance for experienced people with developed careers to pass on the knowledge and experience that university studies alone cannot give.
