Guidance on usage of background images in remote collaboration tools

Microsoft Teams

Windows PC

  • Download the background of your preference to your computer.
  • In File Explorer, paste the following text: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads
  • Copy the background you downloaded to the folder that comes up.

Mac OS

  • Download the background of your preference to your computer.
  • In Finder, locate the “Go“ dropdown menu at the top desktop bar and open “Go to folder...“. Then paste in the following text: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Backgrounds/Uploads
  • Copy the background you downloaded to the folder that opens up.

Zoom

  • Download the background of your preference to your computer.
  • Open the Zoom application and enter “Settings” (Windows PC) or "Preferences" (Mac OS).
  • Find the section “Virtual Background”, click the + (plus) icon, find and select your favourite background stored on your computer to add to the list
