Getting Started with Learn

You can login to Learn from MyED and access the courses that you are enrolled on as a Student or an Instructor. This guide will give you an overview of how to find your materials and adjust your settings within Learn.



MyEd button to Launch Learn
This is just an image, the Launch Learn Button can be found in MyEd

Use the "Launch Learn" button in the Learn MyEd channel to open a new window and take you to your My Learn page. If you are enrolled on current Learn courses you will also find direct links to each course, and notifications of any course announcements made through Learn.

We have received reports of some browsers blocking Learn links from opening in MyEd because of pop-up blocker settings. You will need to review your browser pop-up settings and allow sites to open new pages from the domain

Access Learn Directly

You can also access the Learn site directly from

From the homepage you will see a large "Login with EASE" button. Once logged in you will be taken to your My Learn landing page.

Your courses

If you have been enrolled into a course as a student or an instructor your course link will appear in your list of courses which is available on your My Learn tab. You may be enrolled in courses over a number of academic years and you can choose to group your courses by session if you prefer.

If you cannot see a course in your list that you would expect to see, please contact your course organiser and they can check your enrolment status for you.

Courses in Learn

  • You will only see courses on which you are enrolled, and which are using Learn.
  • You will only see courses for the current Academic Year in the MyEd channel. For a full list of all your Learn courses use the "Launch Learn" link.

Site Menu

The tabs at the top of the page will remain in place on all areas of the Learn site, and will give you quick access to the My Learn page, as well as a help section and a list of courses that are available for self-enrol.

Course Menu

Each course will have developed a menu that is specific to the course context. This menu will remain on the side of the screen on all of your course pages to allow quick access across the different course pages. You can choose to collapse this menu if you require more screen space. There is also a breadcrumb bar to help you see which section of the course you are currently viewing.

Assignments, Tests, Grades & Feedback

Learn is used by many courses to set assignment activities, or tests. These can be used for official coursework or for feedback purposes that might not contribute to your final grade.

Profile & Personalisation

Above the main menu tabs you will be able to see your profile box. You can open this from any page and access information that is personal to you. This might include notifications from your courses, information about grades, and also links for customising your settings and updating your profile information.


Blackboard provides detailed descriptions of the different accessibility options that are available within Learn. Learn provides users access to Quick Links and keyboard navigation as well as a series of customisation options which are available within your profile settings.

Content that is uploaded into your courses should be presented according to accessibility guidelines. 


These webpages act as a self-help guide for using Learn, the information has been broken into areas of interest for those who use the Learn VLE.

Mailing List and IS Alerts

For general information on Learn please subscribe to the Learn-info mailing list. This mailing list is used to communicate downtime, upgrades and any changes to Learn.

The service status of Learn can be checked by visiting the IS Alerts webpage. The IS Alerts page will be updated with information on any planned or unplanned downtime. The Twiiter feed @isalerts is  also used to post the information on planned or unplanned downtime.
