Subject guides

Subject guides are resources developed by Academic Support Librarians that focus on a specific subject. In any of our subject guides you may find:

  • Databases relevant to the subject area
  • Links to websites, journals and magazines
  • Recommended books and ebooks
  • Career resources and professional development materials
  • Library contacts for a specific subject, etc.
  • Subject Guides are often the best place to start when beginning a new research project

We’ve put together lots of helpful resources and guidance aimed at your subject area in one place:

1 to 1 support for literature searching and systematic reviews

Academic Support Librarians can provide one-to-one consultations to help you to research more effectively, by enhancing your knowledge of library resources and helping you develop effective search strategies and reference management software skills. We offer two kinds of consultation, which can be face to face or online:

  • Literature searching: 30 minute session to help you make the most of the library resources and tools for your literature search
  • Systematic review: A longer session offering more detailed support if you are using a systematic review methodology

Appointments must be booked in advance and are dependent on the availability of Academic Support Librarians. Arranging an appointment may take up to 2 weeks.
