Interactive Content team receive BMA commendations
Two e-learning resources created within Learning, Teaching and Web Services have been highly commended in the BMA Patient Information Awards 2016.
National healthcare websites Self Help 4 Stroke and My Lungs My Life were both highly commended by the British Medical Association.
The BMA Patient Information Awards 2016, held at BMA House on Monday 12 September, aim to support and encourage patient–centred care in meeting the needs of patients through the production and dissemination of accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced information which will promote both greater awareness and understanding of health matters, and patient choice.
Self Help 4 Stroke
Self Help 4 Stroke is a self-management website for anyone in Scotland who has had a stroke. This is a free resource which anyone can access, however it has been designed to meet the need of the Scottish population.
I think this is a fantastic resource. It has used a thorough consultation methodology to discover what Scottish people with stroke need. It focuses on self-management and offers much practical guidance in easily managed sections. The website uses a variety of media such as slide shows, videos or quizzes to deliver its message. The website is easy to move around and accessible.
My Lungs My Life
My Lungs My Life is a self-management website for all people in Scotland living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, and for the parents/guardians of children.
This website is clearly targeted at a specific group of users in Scotland. The consultation and production process is exemplary and this is shown in the website. The website is easy to navigate and offers practical tips on self-management of asthma or COPD. The extent of the patient consultations is borne out by the emphasis placed on activities of daily living. The website links to other resources in an appropriate way.
Interactive Content Team
Based within the Learning, Teaching and Web Services Division, the Interactive Content Service provide a professional web design and e-learning development service to all staff and students within the University as well as external clients. For example, Self Help 4 Stroke and My Lungs My Life were created in partnership with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, NHS Scotland and the British Lung Foundation Scotland.
