Step 2: Disconnect from eduroam and reconnect

Instructions to make your device forget the eduroam network before you try to reconnect.

IMPORTANT

To stop University network being spammed by rogue devices, we restrict the number of times per second any one user can log in.

If your eduroam connection has failed, please make sure you wait 30-40 seconds before trying again.

If issues persist, try the steps below.

Windows

  1. Click Start > Control Panel, select Network and Internet and then click Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Choose Manage wireless networks.
  3. Select the existing eduroam profile and click Remove (and if necessary, OK).
  4. Go back to Network and Sharing Center and choose Change adapter settings.
  5. Right click Wireless Network Connection  and click Connect/Disconnect.
  6. Refresh the available networks and click Connect on eduroam.

Mac

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon toward the upper right of your screen in the menu bar.
  2. Click Network Preferences > Advanced and click the Wi-Fi tab.
  3. Select the eduroam network and click on the minus (-) button. Press OK and Apply.
  4. Retry connecting to eduroam.
  5. If issues persist, go to Apple menu > System Preferences and check if there is a Profiles section there. If so, remove any eduroam profile inside it and retry connecting as above.

iOS

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap on the info button next to the eduroam network name.
  4. Tap on Forget This Network.
  5. Retry connecting to eduroam.
  6. If issues persist, go to Settings > General > VPN & Profiles and remove any The University of Edinburgh profile and retry connecting to eduroam.

Android

  1. Go to the Wi-Fi section of your settings menu.
  2. Find the eduroam network.
  3. Long press it, then chose Forget.
  4. Retry connecting to eduroam.
