Introduction
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a method of securing communications between your computer and another network.
It helps not only hide passwords from an eavesdropper, but also provides a degree of privacy, since it hides the content of your data.
Why is a VPN useful?
A VPN is particularly useful if you access the University network from home, a business trip, a conference or other non-work location using the public internet.
It may also provide access to University resources normally inaccessible from outside of the University's network.
Which services require VPN/RDP and which do not?
NOTE: You do not need to connect to the VPN to access every application, please check the list of applications which can be accessed directly before using the VPN service.
Pre-requisites
- Ensure your device has an active internet connection via a wired or wireless network.
- Register for the VPN Service
- Set up a VPN client on your device and connect
