Logging in and out

Before you can use an open access PC you must log in to your personal account.

Logging in

Press any key on the keyboard or click the mouse to 'wake' the computer and display if the screen is blank.  Press any key or click the mouse and this displays the Regulations for Workstation Use. Press Enter or click OK to continue.

The Login screen is displayed.  Enter your UUN and open access password in the boxes that appear and press Enter.

If you are a student, your username is the letter S followed by your matriculation number, which can be found on your student card. Members of staff and visitors to the University should have been issued a username and initial password.

If you have registered with EASE, your open-access password should be the same as your EASE password, though it is possible to have them set differently. If you do not know your password, or are having trouble logging in, please contact the IS Helpline 0n 0131 651 5151 or by email on is.helpline@ed.ac.uk.

Once you are logged in the main Windows 10 desktop appears.

Computers may be locked for a maximum of 30 minutes. After that time, the computer will automatically log you out.

If you don't do this and your computer logs you out, you will lose any unsaved work.
