Top 8 New Features

1. BI Launch Pad interface

  • Upgraded 'Modern' interface is the default for all users
  • Classic version of the Launch Pad has been discontinued
  • All features of Classic Launch Pad are available in the Modern interface

2. Webi Report interface

  • Upgraded 'Modern' interface for report viewing, editing, and building
  • Classic version of Webi has been discontinued
  • All features of Classic Webi are available in the Modern interface

3. New data sources

  • Web Intelligence. Build a new Webi report based on an existing Webi report
  • Excel, CSV, and Text. Use local data sources in your reports. Upload Excel spreadsheets and text documents into BI Launch Pad and then use them to create new Webi reports
  • Combine local and central data. Create reports that combine local data sources (e.g. Excel) with universe data to answer your business question
4. Scheduling
  • Instances tile. New 'Instances' tile gives you a single place for seeing and managing your report schedules and instances
  • New recurrence pattern – ‘Business Hours’. Allows you to schedule a job to run between set hours on selected days
  • Schedule to multiple destinations. You can now select multiple destinations for a single schedule - in the past you had to create a schedule for each destination you wanted to send a report to. If delivery succeeds to one destination but fails to another, the status of the schedule will be ‘partial success’
  • Failure / Success notifications. Configure an email notification to tell you if the scheduled job fails or runs successfully
  • 'Schedule to email' improvements. If you are scheduling reports to be delivered by email you can now format them using the rich text editor. You can also add a reply-to text field in the email properties
  • Calendar view. View your schedules in calendar or list view; colour coding makes it easy to identify schedules by recurrence type
  • Better search. Search instances by status (failed, running, etc) or by multiple criteria. You can select multiple instances at once and run them or delete them
5. Report Prompts - Save your selections
  • Save time when running reports by reducing the need to remember and enter prompt values
  • You can save your most frequently used sets of prompt values. Simply fill out the prompts on a report with your chosen values, and then click the 'Save' icon at the top right of the prompt dialog box. Give your selection a name.
  • When running the document again you can choose your saved prompt selection using the Variants dropdown menu at the top of the prompt dialogs box

6. Report Design Enhancements

  • Create and apply conditional formatting rules easily
  • Use Format Number to customise the display of numbers
  • Format multiple columns or rows at the same time using Ctrl-Click
  • Filter data dynamically with cascading input controls
  • 2 new break types:
    • Value-based breaks: break on specific object values you have selected
    • Same-level break: break a table for several objects on the same line

7. Query Panel Enhancements

  • Quick filters. You can now create a query filter by selecting an object in the results pane and then clicking on the 'filter/+' button to select filter values. It will automatically be added to the filter pane
  • Lock the query. Prevent other people from editing the query of your report. Click on Query Properties and then untick the check box 'Allow other users to edit the query'
  • Select Delete trailing blanks checkbox (in Query Properties box) to remove extra spaces after the values returned by relational or multidimensional universe data sources

8. New Chart Types

  • Improve the look and feel of your reports using new chart types and colour palettes
  • Easily create dashboard style reports using KPI tile and Gauge widgets
  • Many more customisation options for formatting and aligning your charts, e.g. adjust width, colour code data values
