Availability, Entitlement & Charges

Hosting is provided for ed.ac.uk, ac.uk and non ac.uk domains.

Service Availability

Except for planned service outages, the service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Support is available, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding University Holidays, from IS Apps Service Management via the IS Helpline.

Entitlement to Hosting

Corporate units (excluding band Y), Academic units (using the service for teaching and learning purposes) and Student societies can use the service free of charge (based on using shared infrastructure and standard operating system set-up).

Charges

Linux Hosting

Bronze and Silver accounts used for teaching and learning purposes are hosted free of charge. Hosting accounts for research-related websites and webapps incurs the charges as set out below. Note that hosting is run on a ‘costs only’ basis, meaning that charges simply cover the cost of running the service, with no profit to IS Applications Division.
