New MANTRA Data Management Training unit published
The Data Library are delighted to announce the publication of the 7th unit: Data protection, rights and access, for the Research Data Management Training (MANTRA) online course.
A Conversation with Data Librarians
Andrew Creamer, Project Coordinator, Lamar Soutter Library, UMass Medical School recently travelled to Edinburgh to interview data librarians and "pioneers in research data management education" Robin Rice and Stuart Macdonald. He has written a blog post about his visit and published a complete transcript of the interview.
Research Data MANTRA evaluation
The Data Library has published a report on the findings of an evaluation of the Research Data MANTRA project, which as part of the JISC Managing Research Data Programme (2010-11) created an online course for University PhD students and early career researchers to learn better data management practice. The evaluation was conducted and written by Laura Molloy of the Digital Curation Centre (University of Glasgow), who interviewed project stakeholders including primary contacts from participating schools and doctoral programmes. The report is available from the deliverables page of the MANTRA project website.
Open Repositories 2012: an international gathering
In July 2012 the University of Edinburgh hosted the Seventh International Conference on Open Repositories (OR2012). Open Repositories is an annual gathering of scholarly communications librarians, software developers, institutional repository managers, and practitioners engaged in the creation, implementation, and improvement of digital repositories for scholarly research outputs and cultural heritage materials.
New resource - OECD Statistics Online
With the aim of enhancing our support of the research data needs of the University community, the Data Library recently purchased a licence to the entire set of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) statistics online.
New resource - EU statistics dataset
The Data Library has recently obtained a copy of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC), a dataset that provides statistics on social cohesion.
Job opportunity at the Data Library
