Learn Foundations Project

An initiative to improve the use of the Learn VLE for on-campus taught courses has commenced.

The Learn Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) service currently hosts more than 5,000 courses a year and provides access to course materials, assignments, grades, feedback and much more.

The University is investing in enhancing the student experience through a project to improve the use of the Learn VLE for on-campus taught courses. This project has been identified as part of our institutional response to the Quality Assurance Agency Enhancement Themes work – Evidence for Enhancement: Improving the Student Experience.

Feedback from several surveys, and reviews of the University’s digital systems, have highlighted that inconsistencies between courses and poor web usability cause frustration and dissatisfaction for students.

The adoption of VLE standards can improve student satisfaction and support innovation in the use of learning technology.

Based on requirements gathered from users of Learn, as well as surveying similar projects in other universities, a number of areas for improvement have been identified and agreed.

More information about the initiative and how you can get involved is available on the project website: Learn Foundations project.
