Year 4 Profile

Why Informatics?

I wanted to take a STEM subject that suited my abilities but I also wanted to study something new and Informatics (especially the AI and Cog Sci aspects of it) was the perfect combination of these things.

Why Edinburgh?

I love Edinburgh. I felt more ‘at home’ here than the other universities I looked at. I enjoy the sense of community. Even though it’s a large university, you really do get to know people well through your courses and through societies.

What do you do for fun?

I run the University Vegetarian Society and volunteer with Edinburgh-based charity Crew 2000.

Any tips for prospective students?

If you are starting here as a student, take time to enjoy yourself – you’ll do much better if you rest and take time to do things you enjoy than if you just try to work really hard constantly.
