School of Informatics

Visit us

We run several visit days for potential undergraduate students.

Open Days

Should you wish to come to the university and speak to staff and students before you apply, you can do so by attending one of our pre-application visit days.

The University holds three  pre-application Open Days a year, held in June and September. For more information about the University of Edinburgh's Open Days please see:

Offer Holder Days

Once you have applied and received an offer you can attend one of our Offer Holder Days.  Email invites to the visit day will be sent in spring 2020 and attendees will be able to register for either  Wednesday 25th March 2020 or Wednesday 1st April 2020. To avoid disappointment, sign up for our Offer Holder Day early to ensure you secure a 121 meeting, as this opportunity is dependent on the availability of our teaching staff.

To get an idea of what to expect, you can view the 2019 programme.

Virtual Tours

If you can not visit us in person, you can view some of our facilities in our virtual tours:

Virtual tour of the Informatics Forum - The Informatics Forum is used for postgraduate research only.

Virtual tour of Appleton Tower - Appleton Tower re-opened to Informatics in August 2017 after extensive renovation.

Student-led guided tours

The University offers student-led guided tours most Friday afternoons, which are for students and their families who are unable to attend an Open Day.

Self-guided tours

If you would just like to look around the University, you are welcome to pick up a self-guided tour leaflet from Student Recruitment & Admissions.

Self-guided accommodation tours, which take you round Pollock Halls, the University's main undergraduate Halls of Residence, are also available for visitors.
