Informatics encompasses a wide range of domains, which can be split into four distinct themes.

Computer Systems

Meeting the computational demands of today’s and tomorrow’s applications through innovation in languages, hardware, models, tools, and algorithms.

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

We explore the fundamental computational processes required to learn advanced capabilities from data or experience, and demonstrate the impact of the resulting methods in problem-driven research across many fields.

Foundations of Computation

We provide the underlying principles that drive the development of new algorithms to extract knowledge from data, keep data secure, and reduce errors in software and hardware design.

Language, Interaction, and Robotics

We can analyse and model how agents (humans or machines) interact with each other and the physical world, and design products and services which transform the ways we work, live at home, and care for each other.
