Why did you choose to study this programme?

I applied for this programme because it was what I was looking for. I had worked for five years and wanted to learn something related to data, combining it with a field other than mathematics. I would like to learn basic data skills and the most essential thing for me is to use data to create and communicate with others about what I do. Another reason is the opportunity to do an internship to gain different working experiences which is part of our course and helps me prepare for my future. This program seemed to be very practical.

Why did you choose to study in Edinburgh?

I travelled around the UK several years ago and was really impressed with Edinburgh. That’s why I am here now.

What do you like doing outside of your studies?

Besides studying, I am a member of Edinburgh University Snowsports Club and International and Exchange Student Society Edinburgh. I really enjoy the time talking with students from different countries.

Another thing I do is work-out. The gym is really awesome and quite convenient for students who live on the centre campus.

Do you have any top tip for our prospective PG students?

  1. The life of postgraduate students whose first language is not English is a bit tough at the beginning. Keeping learning English and immerse yourself in the English speaking context.
  2. Pre-prepare for your academic life. The pace here is quite fast and you have lots of things to learn.
  3. Don’t be shy, speak out.
  4. Be open-minded and embrace your postgraduate life.
