ICSA researchers widely recognised at the International CGO Symposiums
Researchers from the School of Informatics were recognised at the prestigious event in Austin, Texas in early February.
Six research papers from ICSA were presented at the conference: four papers on a range of topics including new developments on a novel programming language Lift, developed at Edinburgh were presented at CGO; two papers were presented at HPCA.
Moreover, Mike O'Boyle’s 2007 paper 'Rapidly Selecting Good Compiler Optimizations Using Performance Counters' has won the CGO Test of Time award 2017. The award recognises outstanding papers, published ten years previously at CGO, whose contents are still a vibrant and useful contribution today. Mike's paper was authored with his team at ICSA and collaborators at INRIA.
And last but not least, one of the presented papers, Chris Cummins’ (and supervisors’: Hugh Leather, Pavlos Petoumenos and Zheng Wang) paper 'Synthesizing Benchmarks for Predictive Modeling' has won the Best Paper award at CGO.
The International Symposium on Code Generation and Optimization (CGO) brings together researchers and practitioners working at the interface of hardware and software on a wide range of optimization and code generation techniques and related issues. The International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA) is one of the most prestigious conferences in the area of computer architecture.
