Now recruiting Lecturers/Readers
Application deadlines from 18 March 2016
The School of Informatics is pleased to announce several open positions for Lecturer or Reader (roughly the equivalent of Assistant or Associate Professor) to join our academic staff.
Successful candidates will join the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation and/or the Institute for Perception, Action and Behaviour, where they will further strengthen our world-class research into computational approaches to language, vision, robotics, visualisation, design, and the links between them.
Please note that all application deadlines are strict due to legal requirements for potential visa holders.
Positions are available in the following areas.
Lecturer or Reader in Robotics
Applications are encouraged from researchers interested in areas of grasping/manipulation, perception and control on real world robotic platforms.

Strengthening our research
The School provides a great opportunity for the successful candidates to interact with our existing staff and infrastructure, and we expect these appointments to lend further support to our ongoing activities, including:
- Our Centres for Doctoral Training in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and in Data Science.
- The Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, recently established in partnership with Heriot Watt University, with substantial infrastructure funding for robotic platforms and supporting facilities.
- The Centre for Design Informatics, a collaboration between the Schools of Design and Informatics within the University.
- Activities within the UK's Alan Turing Institute (ATI) for Data Science, of which the University of Edinburgh is one of the five joint venture partner universities. The ATI brings together PhD students, research fellows and senior researchers within the Turing Institute, both within the University and across the UK.
- Interdisciplinary activities across the University, including through the Centre for Speech Technology Research and other collaborations with the School of Pschychology, Philosophy and Language Sciences.
