Music Informatics and Cognition
PhD student Andrew McLeod is organising the first UK Music Informatics and Cognition (MIC) workshop of its kind.
The event will take place 1-7pm Wednesday 20th July 2016, in the Informatics Forum, in room 4.31.
Speakers include Emmanouil Benetos (Queen Mary), Tillman Weyde (City) and Stephanie Shih (California, Merced).
Andrew says:
“Computational methods play an important role in modelling human cognitive processing of music, as well as unlocking practical applications such as music retrieval and transcription. This workshop, focused on data-driven methods for music analysis, brings together UK researchers to share different perspectives and disciplinary approaches to music in a computational and/or cognitive context.”

1pm - Introduction, Mark Steedman
1.15pm - Automatic music transcription using matrix decomposition methods, Emmanouil Benetos
2.05pm - Symbolic Music Analysis for Music Transcription, Andrew McLeod
2.55pm - Coffee break
3.20pm - Big Data in Musicology, Tillman Weyde
